DENVER – January 29, 2016 – Denver Comic Con (DCC), Denver’s largest consumer convention and a program of education-nonprofit Pop Culture Classroom (PCC), today announced Ralph Macchio (“Daniel LaRusso”), William Zabka (“Johnny Lawrence”), and Martin Kove (“John Kreese”), the stars of the 1984 blockbuster The Karate Kid, and C. Thomas Howell (“Ponyboy Curtis”) of 1983’s The Outsiders (which also featured Macho as “Johnny Cade”), will be in attendance to meet and greet fans, sign autographs, take photos and conduct a reunion panel during the June 17 – 19 event at the Colorado Convention Center.
“Who hasn’t tried the crane move? Or quoted the phrase ‘stay gold, Ponyboy’?” asked Christina Angel, Denver Comic Con director. “The Karate Kid and The Outsiders are a landmark films in our pop culture. Having these actors at Denver Comic Con is exciting for an entire generation of fans.”
Denver Comic Con will feature Karate Kid and The Outsiders reunion panels during which the actors will discuss the legacy of the film and field questions from fans.
Additionally, Macchio, Howell, Zabka and Kove will be available the entire weekend to sign autographs and take photos.
Denver Comic Con has quickly become one of the most attended pop culture conventions in America. The popularity is due in part because of its robust schedule of programming—more than 400 hours of sessions during which artists, creators, celebrities and industry experts talk about their craft and their creations—as well as its family-friendly mission and environment. The largest portion of the show floor, more than 9,000 sq. ft., is dedicated to teens and children with activities designed to engage kids in education through pop culture.
