This past weekend We attended the very First DINK – The Denver Independent Comic and Art Expo, at the Sherman Street Event Center in Downtown Denver.
This event had a great turn out for a First year show. The isles were packed with people speaking to artists, getting pictures and buying their art. We were told by many people that this show felt like an art show in the artsy areas of New York. There were 5 floors of amazing art from all different styles and media.
DINK is a different type of show. They planted a tree for every 10 tickets sold. They encouraged attendees to bring their own water bottles, as there would be places to refill them. There was little waste at this show. Hell, even let people know before their cars got towed away. It was a very Friendly environment. One of the Volunteers noticed the Press badges, and offered to get a slice a pizza, if we hadn’t already gotten one. Everything about this show was very different from other Conventions. It was a nice change from the hustle that seems to be at most of Comic-Cons or similar shows.
Cant wait to see what next year will bring.
